Tasbeeh: second application (a state I do like):
<<NOW [thus it is:] when affliction befalls a human, s/he is likely to cry out to his Sustainer, turning unto Him [for help]; [13] but as soon as He has bestowed upon him a boon by His grace, he forgets Him whom he invoked before, and claims that there are other powers that could rival God [14] - and thus leads [others] astray from His path. Say [unto him who sins in this way]: “Enjoy thyself for a while in this thy denial of the truth; [yet,] verily, thou art of those who are destined for the fire! - 39:8 (Asad)
The first prerequisite-before the situation:
The witnessing (shahadah) of the Rahma Mercy and Hikmah wisdom of God in the existence/universe/my own life, under the guidance of revelation.
The second prerequisite-before the situation:
Awareness of akhirah (next life): (actually akhirah means “endings” “the ends of each moment”)
Paradise Jannah is the unveiled manifestation of God’s names. It is everything we want, need, desire and dream of, beyond our imagination: what we desire is actually God’s names unveiled in its utmost degree and eternally, reunion with God itself.
<<Inna lillah wa inna ilayhi rajioon>> we are in a state of coming and returning to God.
*************We’re facing the situation. (saying "I love this" in a state of heedlessness)
Conscious awareness, things do not happen randomly or haphazardly or by chance or luck, rather they have meaning and purpose. I and my actions and other people and causes do not create the state situation thing that I like or love (la ilaha "there is no deity").
<<AND [thus it is:] We have not created heaven and earth and all that is between them without meaning and purpose, as is the surmise of those who are bent on denying the truth: [25] but then, woe from the fire [of hell] unto all who are bent on denying the truth! [26] - 38:27 (Asad
[For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? [27] - 38:28 (Asad)
[All this have We expounded in this] blessed divine writ which We have revealed unto thee, [O Muhammad,] so that men may ponder over its messages, and that those who are endowed with insight may take them to heart. - 38:29 (Asad
<<[Hallowed be] He who has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another: [2] no fault will thou see in the creation of the Most Gracious. And turn thy vision [upon it] once more: canst thou see any flaw? - 67:3 (Asad)
Yea, turn thy vision [upon it] again and yet again: [and every time] thy vision will fall back upon thee, dazzled and truly defeated…. [3] - 67:4 (Asad>>
<<"All that you worship instead of God is nothing but [empty] names which you have invented [42] - you and your forefathers- [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. Judgment [as to what is right and what is wrong] rests with God alone-[and] He has ordained that you should worship nought but Him: this is the [one] ever-true faith; but most people know it not [43] - 12:40 (Asad)>>
<<He answered: “Do you worship something that you [yourselves] have carved, - 37:95 (Asad)
the while it is God who has created you and all your handiwork (everything you do)?” - 37:96>>
State of heedlessness is a choice, when I don’t intend to be in a state of remembrance than I’m in ghaflah and when I dislike a situation I perceive it as either "it’s evil" or "I’m a victim of the circumstances".
Remembrance (dhikr)- to connect my situation with my Rab/ Sustainor. (in a way I’ve already learned/understood, guidance of the revelation comes before this remembrance) (illAllah "but God" "there is no deity but The One God")
(1) Whatever it is I like, is from You. (submitting to God’s will-islaam/tasleem)
(2) Realizing that my liking, enjoyment, pleasantness, excitement is also from You. What have I been made to like? God’s names. Asmaa’ al-Husna (beautiful good names)
<<Lahu al-asmaa’ al-husna 59:24>>(everything you see as beautiful and good in creation is a reflection of God’s attributes---everything has beauty and goodness in them if we know how to look at them)
<<59.24: His [alone] are the attributes of perfection. Asad
To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: Y. Ali
His are the most beautiful names. Picktall>>
<<He is God, the Creator, the Maker who shapes all forms and appearances! [31] His [alone] are the attributes of perfection. [32] All that is in the heavens and on earth extols His limitless glory (yusabbih): for He alone is almighty, truly wise! - 59:24>>
<<AND [know, O men, that] whether you keep your beliefs [10] secret or state them openly, He has full knowledge indeed of all that is in [your] hearts. [11] - 67:13 (Asad)
How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? [12] Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom], aware! [13] - 67:14 (Asad)>>
If I have the intention to be in a state of remembrance and to be aligned with my shahada witnessing, than when I realize I’m unable to feel grateful, I make istighfar (a form of dhikr/remembrance).
Istighfar (asking for forgiveness): I realize my initial state of heedlessness prevented me from being grateful to my Owner and the Owner/Rab/Sustainor of the situation I liked.
(also asking for bounty/barakah) I am praying God to feel the gratefulness (gratefulness is also a gift of God)(being grateful for the feeling of gratefulness)
Istighfar leads us to make tasbeeh (glorification of God) (a form of dhikr): the good, the beautiful, the things I love belong only to God.
Example: (illusion#4 "The illusion of random luck") I almost hit a car but I got lucky (I attributed the name Hafidh Protector to the false god “luck” "Fortuna/ Tyche" “a name we and our forefathers have made up”)
Example: (illusion#3 "Causes create the effect") Our land is fertile our water is good and therefore our crop is tasty (I attributed the name Razzaq Provider to the false gods of “earth” and “water”)
Example: (illusion#2 "Others did/are doing/will do") <<And the King said: "Bring him unto me, so that I may attach him to my own person." And when he had spoken with him, [the King] said: "Behold, [from] this day thou shalt be of high standing with us, invested with all trust!" - 12:54 (Asad
And thus We established Joseph securely in the land [of Egypt]: he had full mastery over it, [doing] whatever he willed. [Thus do] We cause Our grace to alight upon whomever We will; and We do not fail to requite the doers of good. [56] - 12:56 (Asad>>
It is not the King who establishes Joseph and gives him power and mastery, it is God.
Example: (illusion#1 "I did, I am doing and I will do") I studied for an exam and I scored perfectly. (I attribute the “success” (felah) to my own doing, I’m worshiping my own doing, see 37:95-96)
<<He answered: “Do you worship something that you [yourselves] have carved, - 37:95
the while it is God who has created you and all your handiwork (everything you do)?” - 37:96 (Asad)>>
